Judge allows claims of survivors of Highland Park mass shooting to proceed against Smith & Wesson

Lake County Circuit Judge Jorge L. Ortiz entered an order denying Smith & Wesson’s motion to dismiss claims for unfair business practices and negligence claims. The trial against Smith & Wesson can now proceed subject to Smith & Wesson’s right to appeal. The order grants a victory to victims and family members of those slain at the mass shooting on the 4th of July, 2022. Included as plaintiffs in the case are the estates of Eduardo Uvaldo, Katherine Goldstein, Irina and Kevin McCarthy, Jacki Sundheim, Stephen Straus and Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza.
